KAMIAK WEEKLY UPDATE

May 30, 2025

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Among my favorite joys, I take special pleasure in seeing students rising to their own potential. This time of year, students are often submitting their most complex and challenging assignments. They are finished with the tests they’ve prepared for all year. They are engaging in presentations and demonstrations, showcasing refined skill and talent.

When I see hard work paying off for students, I am especially proud and inspired. The students we greeted in September have learned and grown. They have matured and excelled in many areas – sometimes surprising even themselves.

This is an excellent time to ask a Kamiak Knight to show you the work that gives them the greatest sense of pride.

ATHLETICS

Join Kamiak Girls Wrestling 🤼‍♀️

Hello Kamiak Athletes,

Are you looking for a sport that will build confidence, toughness, and grit—while surrounding you with a team that feels like family? If so, Kamiak Girls Wrestling wants you.

All necessary equipment is provided, with one exception: wrestlers will need their own wrestling shoes. However, if cost is a concern, I have ways to cover shoes for anyone who needs help—just let me know privately and we’ll make it work.

Whether you're a seasoned competitor or have never tried wrestling in your life, there's a place for you on our team. No experience is required—just a willingness to learn, work hard, and support each other. I can teach anyone to wrestle.

Wrestling is a no-cut sport, which means everyone is welcome. If you’re willing to show up and try, you have a spot on our team.

Since 2018, Kamiak has been one of the pioneers in supporting girls wrestling in Washington. We were one of the first schools in the state to establish a dedicated girls wrestling team, and we’ve grown steadily each year. We also host one of the best and longest-running girls tournaments in the state—the Lady Knights Invitational, now entering its 8th year.

💥 This year, we’re taking another big step forward:

For the first time, our practices will be completely separate from the boys, giving us our own space and time to train.

We’ll also be competing in full girls dual meets throughout the season—something we’ve fought hard to make happen.

Our season begins November 17, 2025, with registration opening June 13, 2025, and we’ll be holding preseason info meetings soon. Keep an eye out for those details, but in the meantime, if you’re curious or ready to take that first step, don’t hesitate to reach out.

You don’t need to be the strongest or the fastest to start—you just need to show up.

If you’re ready to challenge yourself, gain new confidence, and be part of something bigger, let’s talk.

Contact Coach Baldwin at baldwinjh@mukilteo.wednet.edu for more information and to be invited to our Schoology Group.

See you on the mat!

👉 Senior Checkout Requirement – Final Transcript Request via Parchment

As part of the senior checkout process, all graduating seniors must visit Parchment.com to request a HOLD for their final transcript.

This transcript will be sent to one of the following:
  • The student's post-secondary destination (college, military, trade school, etc.).
  • OR if a student is uncertain about their plans, they should request that the transcript be sent to themselves.
This step is required to complete senior checkout and must be completed by June 11th.
Students can create or access their Parchment account at www.parchment.com.
Attached, you’ll find step-by-step instructions to help with the process. If your student needs assistance, they are welcome to stop by the counseling office.

Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth and successful transition for the Class of 2025!

COUNSELING CORNER

Graduation

We are in our final days until graduation!! It is extremely important for seniors to focus in these remaining days to complete final assignments, projects, and assessments. Please talk to your student about engaging in classes and talking with their teachers to make sure they have everything in line to finish strong. If your student cannot complete all requirements, they may not be eligible to graduate and/or participate in the ceremony.

Running Start Fall Quarter Registration

Fall quarter registration is open If your student is planning to attend fall quarter Running Start, please read through the information.

For currently enrolled Running Start students (11th grade) to register for classes, they will need to complete the quarterly verification form and meet with their Kamiak school counselor to have it signed. Students should review class options in the college course guide before contacting their counselor. The earlier this step can be completed, the better chance they have of getting the classes they want/need. A copy of the verification form is available on the Kamiak Running Start page (under Counseling) and hard copies are available in the Counseling Office.

Students enrolling for the first time should be in the process of completing the Running Start registration steps on the college website. All students need to have viewed our Kamiak Running Start Webinar prior to registration. The webinar link is available on the Career and College Readiness page of the Kamiak website (under Counseling). We HIGHLY recommend parents watch this webinar with their students. As students navigate steps, they can contact their school counselor for questions.

Is your student interested in taking classes for summer quarter? Your student may be eligible for summer college classes. This quarter is open to incoming new students, current students, and even graduating seniors who qualify. Summer quarter is shorter (less than 8 weeks long) and faster paced than a typical quarter, which often makes it more challenging. Additionally, the number of credits your student is eligible to take will be based on the number of credits they completed during the school year. If your student is interested in summer quarter, they should contact their counselor when they complete fall quarter registration.

Summer School

The Mukilteo School District Summer School will be held from July 7th through July 31st this year at Voyager Middle School. Initial invites were sent through ParentSquare message last week for students who met the percentage to qualify in available subjects. For questions about Summer School or credit recovery for your student, you can reach out to their school counselor to make a plan.
