Kamiak Culture Night Returns!

Kamiak Culture Night returns for the third year! Please join us on April 24 from 6-8 pm for an evening of food, music, and the celebration of our rich cultural diversity. If you are interested in having a table or performing, please message Crystal Stengele at StengeleCM@mukilteo.wednet.edu

🎶 First Ever School Wide Lip Dub! 🎤

On April 17th Kamiak will film our first ever whole school lip dub. A lip dub is a music video where performers lip sing along to songs and the music is dubbed over their performance. Select students have been chosen as the main "singers" but all Kamiak students get to participate by lining the route and cheering when the camera comes past. If your student has opted out of having their image displayed publicly, there will be a classroom space for them to remain during the filming. Please reach out to Crystal Stengele for more details.

Student Drop Off and Pick Up Reminder 🚗🚫

Center Circle: This lot is intentionally closed to pick up and drop-off before and after school. By moving traffic through our two faster and safer options, we keep our students safe and our traffic flowing.

Fastest and Safest Option: Use the entrance from Harbour Pointe Boulevard near the Silver Lot on the south side of campus near the Performing Arts Center. Use both lanes for quicker pick-ups and drop-offs. If you need a moment longer, pull out of traffic into a parking lot so other drivers can keep moving. Exit out of the southeast corner of the Purple lot onto Chennault Beach Road. Drivers using this exit can turn either right or left.

Slower and Safe Option: Use the entrance from Harbour Pointe Boulevard near the White Lot on the north side of campus near the gym. Immediately after entering the lot, turn left and drive all the way into the parking area. Reminder: Cars are NOT allowed to drop off in the bus loop. Drivers in this lot must pull all the way into the lot and yield to buses.

ALL LOTS - Our staff who guide traffic flow and monitor crossings prioritize the safety of our students. Thank you for following all guidance you receive from these folks as they keep our students safe and traffic moving.

Results from the Week

Tuesday, Mar 25
Girls Golf - Congratulations to the Kamiak Girls Golf Team who placed 3rd out of 15 teams in the Whidbey Shootout. The team was led by Sarah Dyer who finished 2nd and Allie Suh who finished in 4th place.

Friday, Mar 28
Boys Soccer - Kamiak boys soccer took on Cascade at Everett Memorial Stadium on Friday. JV went down a goal in the 17th minute but after that it was all Kamiak in the attack. Their first one on the scoresheet was in the 24th minute when Daniil Denysiuk got in behind and the ball bounced off the keeper to Ashton Bullock who put it in the back of the net. In the 43rd minute Dylan Alexander assisted Cooper Foreman to put the Knights up 2-1. The Knights would net a 3rd in the 56th minute with a ball slotted in behind the defense from Dylan Alexander to Temy Yemane. They weren’t finished yet, with the final goal in the 4-1 victory was Shidat Sanneh getting behind the defense and cutting the ball back in front of goal where Dylan Alexander put it past the keeper. Your Knights Varsity went up 1-0 in the 46th minute when Carter Kjolso side volleyed a ball at the top of the 18 yard box hit the post and bounced in. Cascade would equalize late in the game off a shot from distance. The game would go into overtime and neither team could get the golden goal to end it, walking away with a 1-1 draw.

Varsity Girls Softball lost to Glacier Peak on Friday

Saturday, Mar 29
Varsity Girls Softball lost to Stanwood but won 6-1 against Burlington-Edison.

Sunday, Mar 30
Girls Golf - Congratulations to Alina Kang who made a Hole in One on Sunday March 30th at Legion Memorial Golf Course.

Monday, Mar 31
Boys Soccer - Yesterday Kamiak Boys Soccer C-team took on Mariner’s C-team. Your Kamiak Knights went up 1-0 in the 4th minute on a cross from Kevin Trujilloreyes to Aiden Bocalan. The Knights would get a second late in the half off a corner from Denis Khazanov to Cooper Knutzen who put it on goal and a heavy deflection put it off the post and in. The 34th minute goal put the Knights up 2-0 and they never looked back. The second half was scoreless battle by both sides and your Knights took home the 2-0 win making them 5-0 on the season. Today your Knights JV and Varsity play at Kamiak High School against 1st place Lake Stevens. We would love to see you out rooting your Knights on in this huge league battle. Come support your Kamiak Knights JV at 5:30pm and Varsity at 7:30pm.

Varsity Boys Baseball won 7-1 and JV lost to Lake Stevens.
Tuesday, Apr 1
JV and Varsity Boys Soccer - Your Kamiak Knights Boys Soccer took on Lake Stevens High School Last night. First the JV went toe to toe against Lake’s JV and for most of the game it was a defensive struggle. The first half ended at zeroes and the second half was very much the same until late in the game when Lake Stevens would have the ball in the Knights penalty area where the Knights made a tackle but unfortunately the ball bounced in behind off the Lake player and he was able to smash it in the goal from close range and your Knights fell 1-0. Varsity battled undefeated Lake Stevens and unfortunately gave up an early first half goal on a ball slotted through that the Knights got a piece of but wasn’t enough to keep it from a runner getting behind and that put the Knights down 1-0. They would get one back shortly after when a through ball was played by Jackson McKenzie to Nick Nunez who was able to get through a recovering defender and an incoming keeper to then put the ball in the empty net. Similar to the JV, after an outstanding save from Otto Richter late in the game, unfortunately Lake would get a goal with 5 minutes remaining on a shot from the top of the box that was slotted into the corner. Lake remains unbeaten as your Knights fell in a close one 2-1 to the wesco league leaders.

JV Girls Softball had a big win of 20-5 against Mariner

Wednesday, Apr 2
JV Girls Softball won 16-15 against South Whidbey

JV and Varsity Boys Baseball dominated against Arlington, with JV winning 12-3 and Varsity securing a 10-0 victory.

Girls Golf - Congratulations to the Kamiak Girls Golf Team who placed 3rd out of 15 teams in the Whidbey Shootout.  The team was led by Sarah Dyer who finished 2nd and Allie Suh who finished in 4th place. Congratulations to Alina Kang who made a Hole in One on Sunday March 30th at Legion Memorial Golf Course.

Thursday, Apr 3
Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Track for their victorious win over Glacier Peak! PERFORMING ARTS

Something Rotten!

Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten. Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Something Rotten features large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, each with their own moment to shine. Throughout its Broadway run, the musical received a show-stopping standing ovation from audiences... in the beginning of the first act! It’s become clear that “nothing’s as amazing as a musical,” so don’t miss your chance to see this history-twisting tale.

Running Start Seniors – Graduation Reminders

As we get closer to graduation, we want to make sure parents are reminded that our Kamiak counselors do not have access to college grades or class progress reports during each quarter. Your student is the only person who can review grades and address concerns if they arise. Since counselors do not receive final grades until 1-2 weeks after the quarter ends, we have limited time during senior year to make an alternative plan if your student does not pass one or more classes. Knowing this, we want to encourage you and your student to review current grades together now and through spring quarter to confirm they are on track to pass. Students are expected to notify their Kamiak counselor as soon as possible if they learn they will not earn credit.

For seniors who are planning to take graduation-required classes during spring quarter, please note the information below:

  • Students who choose to complete required classes during spring quarter will need to be passing their courses in order to walk at the graduation ceremony. Your senior will be expected to login to their college account to share current class grade(s) with their school counselor during the week of graduation to confirm they have a passing grade. We are required to review grades for every student to ensure on-track status.

  • Because grades for spring quarter college classes are not finalized until late-June/early-July, and our staff are out for the summer, your senior will be eligible to pick up their diploma certificate in August when our registrar and counselors return from summer break. Kamiak students typically pick up their diplomas the week after graduation, but we cannot release the diploma until we can confirm they have passed all requirements at the college. During the graduation ceremony, they will still receive a diploma book, similar to every other student.

School Counselors are designated by student’s last name:
