ACES High School
A CENTER FOR EDUCATIONAL SUCCESS
ACES High School is a small school of choice that is an alternative to the traditional high school setting. ACES offers students the opportunity to be successful through diverse teaching strategies and learning opportunities including a high level of educational technology, performance based/project based learning opportunities, personalized learning environments and a passion for educational excellence. Students at ACES High School are provided with a complete schedule of coursework that will allow them to complete all of the requirements of a high school diploma. ACES High School has a diverse student body. Many students enrolled in the program are 16 to 21 years of age. A small percentage of the students are 14 and 15. The one universal characteristic of students at ACES High School is the desire to earn a high school diploma.
Located at 9700 Holly Drive, ACES is designed to serve a limited number of students in an extended schedule that addresses each student’s need and learning style. The school is populated with students from Kamiak and Mariner who find a high school setting that is smaller with more individualized support a better fit. This may be the result of a need to work, family responsibilities, or personal needs.
Acceptance into ACES High School requires an application for admission. Application packets may be picked up from a counselor at Kamiak. Once the paperwork is complete, and signed by the counselor and an administrator, it is sent to ACES High School to be processed. Students are registered on a continuous basis. A wait list is utilized to equitably place students in the program as openings become available. A comprehensive interview/intake appointment with the ACES counselor will allow parents and students to complete all the registration paperwork and design a schedule that fits the student’s needs. Assessments in math and reading may be given prior to completion of a class schedule to assist in educational planning.
