KAMIAK WEEKLY UPDATE

November 26, 2025

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Like many of you, I am looking forward to some great food, time with family and friends, and football games on television tomorrow.

But, what I am looking forward to most is some time reflecting on the last year. I tend toward gratefulness all the time, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. A big part of that is the time I spend thinking about so many of the people I have in my life – all of our staff, our students, this community included.

I hope it always shows that I am thankful to have the opportunity to serve as the principal at Kamiak.

Many 3rd period classes adopted families this year and are working to fill their gift requests. But, if your child’s 3rd period did not adopt a family, or if you are able to help by providing additional gifts, please take a look at our Amazon Wish List. 1st Quarter Grades

1st quarter grades have been finalized. Please consider working with your student to review their grades and come up with a plan, if needed, to address any academic concerns. We highly encourage students to work directly with their teachers to discuss and problem-solve grade concerns. If you have a 12th grade student, first quarter grades are an important indicator of on-track graduation status. Most of our seniors need to pass most, if not all, of their current classes to graduate. If you have questions about your students’ grades, please don’t hesitate to contact their teachers or school counselor for support.

Running Start Winter Quarter Registration

If your student is currently enrolled in Running Start, winter quarter registration has begun! To register for classes, your student will need to complete the quarterly Running Start Verification form with their Kamiak School Counselor. The verification form is available on the college website and the Running Start page of the Kamiak website (CCRC section). All directions and required steps for this process were sent to student’s school outlook emails in October. Please have your student review all directions before meeting with their counselor. Students should meet with their counselor as soon as possible as classes are already starting to fill up for next quarter!

High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP)

The High School and Beyond Plan is a state-mandated graduation requirement for all students, beginning in middle school, that guides them in planning for post-high school education, training, and careers. Counselors met with students earlier this fall to help them access the application and work on required tasks. For more information on your student’s grade-level activities, please visit our High School and Beyond page on the Kamiak website. https://ka.mukilteoschools.org/hsbp
